There's more rain on the way for Bideford tonight and it looks like it's going to be heavy.
Devon Police are advising people in the South West to take extra care following a severe weather warning from the Met Office.
Some heavy rainfall is expected overnight which could lead to flash flooding in certain areas.
The rainfall is expected to be the heaviest the area has seen in
months; such rainfall could lead to flooding in some areas and cause
disruption to outdoor events and transport networks.
Police are advising members of the public to take great care around
rivers and streams. People are advised not to attempt to cross such
waterways and in particular, anyone camping next to rivers or streams is
advised to pay close attention to water levels.
Police are also advising drivers to be vigilant – to avoid any
flooded roads and to reconsider any non-essential journeys should
flooding occur.
Drivers are advised to take extra care and to check water levels if
attempting to cross a ford as around two feet of water is enough to
float and sweep away a vehicle.
Police advise anyone encountering areas of heavy flooding or any
problem areas to report their concerns to the Environment Agency.
In the event of heavy rainfall, drivers are asked to please check the Met Office website first at: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/sw_forecast_warnings.html and also www.environment-agency.gov.uk which has the latest warnings and advice on staying safe.
