The 10 mile race, sponsored by Devonshire Pine and R T Marke chartered accountants and raising funds for the North Devon Hospice, started from the Pill car Park in Bideford at 11 am. The rainy skies cleared for the beginning of the race but there were still plenty of puddles to splash through on the 10 mile route along the road to Yelland and back along the Tarka Trail.
Local man Shaun Antell of the North Devon Road Runners came in first with a time of 55 minutes and 23 seconds followed in second place by Richard Shelley from Plymstock Road Runners at 56:48. Coming in third was another local, Ronnie Richmond, also running for North Devon Road Runners who stopped the clock at 57':38.
First woman past the post at 1:02:47 was Lucy Commander of the South West Road Runners.
