Rugby - Bideford Nomads
By A_McCormack | Sunday, December 13, 2009, 21:09
After a few weeks off the Nomads entertained Credition 3rds who where one place above the Nomads in the Merit Table.
It
was a tough start to the game with the Nomads having to fight hard for
all possesion and territory, the deadlock however was broken by
Crediton who scored and converted 15 minutes in.
The Nomads
fought back and ten mintes later No.8 Matt Cornish peeled off the back
of a maul making a 30 metre sprint to the line, the try was converted
by Shaun Woodhead. Shortly afterward Shaun Woodhead added a penalty
giving the Nomads a 10-7 lead at half time.
The second half was
very difficult for the Nomads who had to use all their energy reserves
with some ferocious defending to keep Crediton out. The game was
finally made safe with a last minute try from Prop Richard following a
kick, chase and turnover secured by the backs.
As in earlier
matches there were many good performances but the two outstanding
perfomances of the day came from Hooker Simon Tatersall and Centre Sam
Brown.
Nomads travel to Simouth this week for another Merit clash.
