AONB designation, the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
team are holding a couple of village exhibitions and talks to highlight some of
their current projects and to encourage members of the local community to
become involved in their work.
Two public exhibitions are
planned in the villages of Combe Martin and Hartland during March and
parishioners are invited to come along and take part.
There will an opportunity for
local people to learn more about the designated AONB and why it forms an
important part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for North Devon. There will be
talks and exhibitions on the role of the AONB with regard to planning and the
local development framework; the Fixed Post Photography Project; Monitoring the
State of the AONB and the new ‘Explore the North Devon Coast’
interpretation project.
There will also be the
opportunity for people to assist the AONB team in their local distinctiveness
project as Project Officer Dave Edgcombe explains: “We are hoping to
recruit local volunteers to take photographs of special architecture,
settlement patterns, field boundaries and the historic environment, unique to
the area in which they live.”
It is hoped that these images
will both celebrate the wonderful culture and heritage of the AONB as well as
helping to inform the production of local distinctiveness guidance, which will
help guide development within this specially protected landscape.
The events will take place at the
following locations:
Combe Martin Museum, near the
seafront, Thursday, 25th March 1 pm to 6pm
Hartland Parish Hall, in the
village centre, Wednesday, 31st March 1 pm to 6 pm
