Dear Dragony Auntie - help me out ...

Oh noes! Blimmin' dog jumped up and swiped the X key off my laptop!
What should I do? Do I need an X? At least it wasn't an E, A or R (which apart from spelling 'ear' which I may need to do more often than 'xylophone') are the most commonly used letters in the English alphabet.
Does my laptop need the X factor? Will I damage the keyboard by tapping away at the sad little stump which has been bared by the loss of the X key?
If I glue it back on am I in danger of gumming the whole thing up?
What should I do?
Comments
I have ecsperienced this problem and do not think it is going to affect you, ecsept in ecstreme situations. (people rarely ecschange comments on my problem solving abilities)
I ecspect if you tried to ficks the key back onto the stump you would only ecsacerbate the problems you are ecsperiencing.
I suppose you would have a problem if you were submitting articles for an eczamination although you could micks up some of the ecstracts in order that you do not use the said letter thus not needing to ecscuse your poor spelling. The youngsters of today eczibit very poor spelling abilities anyway so nobody is going to notice the spelling errors - think of it as an ecsiting ecksploration of our language.
There is an ecstensive vocabulary in the Ocsford Dictionary which is non-ecksaustive and quite eckstroidinary. Just see this as another ecksiting way of looking at life from a different angle.
If this doesn't appeal to you, just chew a bit of chewing gum and fix the key on like that, it usually works for a few days although it is a bit difficult to extricate!
Hope this has helped.
