VIDEO: Torridge District Council Leader YouTube Blog

Leader of Torridge District Council James Morrish has
started compiling a successful video blog.
“Some
might call it a video nasty, “ he said,
“But I see it as just another way of communicating with the people of
Torridge in a format which especially the younger generation will be used to
and comfortable with.
"It will be in addition to my written blog. It’s also to a
chance for people to see the leader of the council as a real person and not
just a stereotypical political wannabe!”
The
video blog has come about as the result of the Communications team in Torridge
meeting with the team in Teignbridge, where they have a dedicated Multimedia
Officer, and use video throughout their website.
“While
we won’t be employing anyone like that, our Communications Officer has a
background in IT and has been able to beg, borrow and steal equipment from
other departments so we are able to do this at no extra cost to the council tax
payer, “ said Councillor Morrish.
The
plan is to make a monthly video blog and to put it on the website, with extra
video messages being recorded as and when necessary. In addition, there will be
other videos throughout the website where appropriate.
Councillor
Morrish added, “We’re not only doing these videos, but from our next Torridge
View residents’ magazine edition due out later this month, we will also have
audio versions of the articles available on the website or on CD for people
with impaired sight to listen to.”

It's good to see what these people look like - even if it is a 'video nasty' LOL
