Geoffrey Cox, MP for Torridge and West Devon, is to hold a round
table forum with Ian Tulley, Chief Executive of the Devon Partnership
Trust, for local families of Autistic Spectrum Disorder sufferers on
11th March. The MP is inviting all those with an interest in provision
for ASD in Torridge and West Devon to come to the forum to discuss how
local services can be improved.
The MP who has strongly supported the cause of better ASD provision
both in schools and post-16, and recently co-sponsored a Private
Member’s Bill in parliament to improve national policy on the
condition, is arranging the forum so that the Trust, and its Chief
Executive, who is responsible for the treatment and provision for
Autism, can learn directly of the difficulties faced by local families
in gaining recognition and help for their family members, particularly
those living in the rural communities and market towns of Torridge and
West Devon.
Geoffrey Cox said: “In my regular meetings and discussions with
local families, I am keenly aware of the constant battle it is in our
rural area to secure the best possible treatment and help for loved
ones suffering from an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This forum will, I
very much hope, lead to a greater understanding of those problems and a
will to make Devon a leader in creating opportunities for those with
Autism.”
Anyone with an interest in obtaining further details or
attending the forum should telephone Geoffrey’s constituency office on
01237 459001.
