Torridge Council Leader James Morrish Horrified by Plans for Single Council for Rural Devon

COUNCILS were last night seething after the Government was advised to
tear up the political map of Devon and abolish district councils in
favour of one large authority.

I read in a previous article that Torridge and North Devon Councils are planning to work together on more issues which is really good news. However to have just one council across the whole of Devon just does not make sense to me.
It is essential in my opinion to have a local council to deal with local government.
How about the town council working more closely with the district council too. A reader did outline what the town council does in an earlier message on Bideford People but I am still unsure of how this links with the work of Torridge District Council.
