with
Basil’s Blues Band, Shelok & Dawa Tsering
and
Plough Arts Centre
Friday
26 February 8pm
Celebrate
Losar (Tibetan New Year) in the party atmosphere of the Plough
decorated with Tibetan prayer flags and hangings. You are guaranteed
a good boogie to the very popular Basil’s
infectious mix of R & B-inflected rock. Support is provided by
the fantastic fiddle duo Nick
Wyke & Becki Driscoll
with dynamic English folk music and songs and local musicians Shelok
& Dawa Tsering and
Phuntsok
with their haunting
Tibetan music.
This
is a fund-raising gig for the Free Tibet and ROKPA charities and The
Plough. There will be a stall selling Tibetan jewellery and artefacts
and a high-quality raffle in aid of the LONGSHO project in India -
work which is run with the Dalai Lama’s blessing. The LONGSHO
project has been set up to help young Tibetans in exile to safeguard
their culture and language which is under constant threat. Donations
for the raffle will be gratefully received.
The
music will start promptly at 8pm, so get there early with your
dancing shoes on or, if you prefer, you can sit and listen and watch
the action.
