Members of the police call handling service are to meet with their customers face-to-face at a series of meetings in Devon.
Officers and police staff who normally only ever speak with their
communities over the phone want to improve the public’s satisfaction
and confidence in the police
To that end they are to send members of call-handling staff to
regular neighbourhood meetings in various areas around the Force,
starting with those local to Exeter, Teignbridge, Torbay, East, Mid and
North Devon.
The intention is to provide a very brief but informative presentation which would include the following subjects:
When to ring 999 or 08452 777444What happens when you ring either of the above numbersAppointments systemWhat sort of questions you can expect to be asked and whyWhat happens with the information you have given
Following the short presentation there will be a question and answer session to try to address any issues raised.
They also intend to produce and issue leaflets on the day which
would help as a reminder to people which they could take away and share
amongst friends and family.
Meetings have already been attended at Heavitree Road, Exeter which
was for Exeter City and Devon County Councillors and a public meeting
in Budleigh Salterton Public Hall and have others planned as follows:
Crime Prevention Panel Meeting - South Molton Police Station on 9 December at 7.30pm22 February 2010 at 7pm in Brixham, (location to be confirmed)8 March 2010 in Combe Martin (time and location to be confirmed) 31 March 2010 at 7pm at Oldway Mansion, Paignton.
