Three volumes with illustrations by Arthur Rackham will draw bibliophiles to Torridge Auctions on Thursday. The first,
Two first editions –
Elsewhere in the sale a number of Disney artefacts include a cast iron miniature barrel organ with the two mice, Mickey and Minnie. Dating from the 1940s, it should make £200-£300 as they come in their box, but not Mickey’s tin plate tea service so only £10-£15 is expected. There is a box of his soft toys, that should attract a little more at £15-£20 and a larger toy of the little chap will ask £15-£25 as he is a full 36in tall.
At £300-£400 is a tester bed in oak with an attractive linen-fold headboard and carved frieze, but as the Victorian inlaid breakfront side cabinet in walnut is so decorative at £200-£300, it would put to shame the library steps in mahogany, even though just £80-£150 is invited.
