In January Torridge District Council will be running a micro-chipping scheme for dogs at half price - just £10.

Traditionally at this time of year, dogs are given to children as pets for Christmas, and sadly some of them are lost.

Over the last 12 months, Torridge District Council has received 256 reports of lost or found dogs.

Welfare Officer Carl Caswell said, "It's really important to get your

dog chipped – it's so much easier for us to get the animal back to the

owner if it gets lost. But it's also important to keep your details up

to date – so if you move house, or change your mobile number – please

let us know."
