By Hyperlocal | Saturday, April 24, 2010, 08:01
second Splash-In, an underwater photography competition, is set to take
place on Saturday 12th June 2010.
As visitors to Lundy will know, the waters around the island are
renowned for their diversity and competitors will have subjects such as
grey seals, rare corals and ship wrecks to photograph.
For a £20 entry fee, competitors will get the chance to enter their
photographs, as well as free camping on the island and a ticket to an
evening Barn Dance and Lamb Roast.
The islands wildlide warden, Nicola
Saunders said: “Last year was the first time Lundy had organised a
Splash-in competition, and it was a huge success and amazing to see so
many people coming together to enjoy Lundy’s spectacular marine life.
We are hoping 2010 is going to be bigger and better in every way!”
The Splash-In categories are:
• Mega to Macro: close-up portraits of
marine species (can be landscape or portrait orientation).
• Marine Ambience: portraying the Reserve and its spectacular
underwater scenery - these may include shots with divers in the frame.
• Marine Abstract: Use your imagination!!
The organisers are hoping for a prize
fund of over £2,000, and have already received generous sponsorship
from Cameras Underwater, Fourth Element, Sea & Sea, Suunto, Abram
Books, Sports Diver, Diver and Scuba Travel.
The winning entrants will
certainly get the opportunity to walk away with some fantastic prizes.
