Dog's Trust Delighted by Government Plans for Compulsory Dog Insurance

The Dogs Trust is delighted by the news that there will be a Government consultation to tackle the issue of dangerous dogs.
Bideford has seen an increase in recent years of what are considered dangerous breeds of dog. The Government has set up a consultation to tackle the issue of harm to humans from dogs which are bred to be aggressive.
Dog owners could be required by law to microchip their dogs and take out third party insurance.
The
Dogs Trust has lobbied the Government about the benefits of compulsory
microchipping over the past year and a recent survey by the Trust shows
that 88% of dog owners would be in favour of such a law.
The
Dog's Trust believe it is not in the interest of dogs or owners to
label 'dangerous breeds' but are lobbying for the introduction of dog
ASBOs (or DOGBOs as the press are dubbing them). This would place the
responsibility of the a dog's behaviour with the owner rather than a
whole breed of dog.
