Buying V Renting in the Bideford Property Market

I was planning to win the Euromillions rollover last Friday - something went terribly wrong and I think I may have to lodge a complaint!  I had itemised my spend too ... now I will have to rethink and let someone else buy the Anchorage, a seven bedroom house by the beach in Instow.

I gave up all notion of buying a property of my own a few years ago - when I realised that I didn't have enough work years left in me for a mortgage company to lend me enough for a nice little house.  That's why I rely on charitable institutions like the Lotto to feed my dreams of owning my own home.

So,we rent.  That in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you are a family with a low or unreliable income.

Yes, we all have our dream home at the back of our minds.  Mine doesn't come with a swimming pool or too many bathrooms (when I am a lady of leisure I don't want to spend my time cleaning toilets!) and a swimming pool is just a waste of energy.  Just somewhere by the sea with enough space to swan around like a princess.  But like many things in life we make do.

We have a lovely rented cottage; damp, hole in the roof, cringeworthy carpets but a fabulous location and breathtaking views.  If my husband and I both worked flat out for the rest of our lives we would never be able to afford to buy it, even if it was for sale (it belongs to Tapeley so no chance!)

So when the bathroom floods or the boiler begins to sound like there's a distressed budgie inside we just call the landlord.  He makes enough money out of us so we leave the stress to him.

In the meantime I'll keep doing the numbers but it's hard work trying to find somewhere to buy which would suit us as well as our cosy cottage.  However ... somewhere in the sun is very appealing this time of year!

I quite fancy that house!  It's been used as a rental holiday home - you could run it as a guest house and still have plenty of room.
