Body Found in River Torridge at Bideford Remains Unidentified

The body pulled from the River Torridge in Bideford on Tuesday morning remains unidentified.
Police have now released a description of the man whose body was recovered from the river Torridge near the Long Bridge at Bideford East-the-Water on the morning of Tuesday 11 January 2011.
He is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” tall, clean
shaven, slim to medium build, with black hair and it is estimated that
he was somewhere between 20 – 40 yrs old.
He was wearing a black fleece, black shirt, black trousers and UK
Size 8 black Adidas trainers with green stripes. He had a black Nike
rucksak and also in his possession were a pair of “Ruda” Sunglasses. He
was wearing a stainless steel Seiko quartz watch.
The man also had a set of 5 Keys on a ring, one of which is thought to have been cut locally in Bideford.
From what is known at present there is nothing to indicate any
suspicious circumstances and it is believed that he may have been in
river since mid December.
The matter has been referred to HM Coroner.

This is so sad. Surely someone must be missing this man. Even if he has no family, surely there would be shopkeepers, neighbours if not friends who would notice he has gone. At least the police say it does not seem a suspicious death and he had his keys and ruksak with him. Sounds like a tragic accident.
