There’s an opportunity for over 50’s to get fit thanks to a new swimming scheme helped by funding from the Bideford Bridge Trust and being run in partnership with Torridge Leisure Centre, 5 x 30 Torridge and Age Concern Devon’s ‘Fit as a Fish’ project.

Fit as a Fish
The Social fitness morning will open on Tuesday 23rd February from 10.00a.m. until 1.00p.m. with free taster sessions in aqua aerobics, swimming, Latin dancing, a stretch class and gym inductions, led by qualified teachers and coaches. There will also be light refreshments and ‘healthy eating’ themed snacks served after the swim where the clients can have a chat and a drink.
The Social Fitness Morning will run on a weekly basis in school term time at an affordable cost of only £3.50!
It’s all part of the partnership incentive to encourage as many people as possible to ‘get up, get out and get active’.
Trish Warren, Fit as a Fish’ co-ordinator which is funded through the Big Lottery Fund said:
“I am proud to be a part of this new project which I am sure will be very successful and attract people who would not normally consider attending Torridge Leisure Centre as a means of keeping fit and active. The health benefits of swimming and other activities are well documented and the social element within the session, as well as the help and advice on offer will create an enjoyable experience for all in a fun, relaxed and informative way.”
There’s no need to book, so if you fancy trying something new, why not join us on Tuesday?
