It's that festive time of year
Spent scoffing chocolate reindeer
Mum going mad as you'll spoil your dinner
Wasting her Saturdays watching Simon Rimmer
A frenzied booze up with fortified wine
Dad watching Slade and giving mum the v sign
She wants him to come and sort the Turkey and stuffing
He just sits there huffing and puffing
We all sit round the dining table
Thanks to Jesus being born in a stable
Bringing on the jokes and party hats
Saying our cousins are all spolt brats
Laughing and poking as the whole family share
In what's now known as festive despair
Drinking and laughing at grandma's faux pas
Of course santa claus doesn't drive a Ford Ka
Grandma thinks if it's advertised on TV
Then its as authentic as French Brie
Mum does a double as she starts to get drunk
The sisters joke that their brother's a skunk
Grandma says she'll watch Corry before she goes to bed
Too much fortified wine and brandy has gone to her head
Dad jokes about bringing out the asti
Mum thinks he's a nit and calls him a pasty
The daughters cringe at their mother's choice words
The house is divided, dad and the other two thirds
It's nearly time for christmas pudding and roux
But everyone's too stuffed to manage a brew
Its time to go to a lonesome bed
But everyone is brimming up to the head
Dad sighs all gone for another year
But tomorrow bubble and squeak is here

ReportChristmas Time by Kathy Cakebread Over 16
Christmas starts when the adverts begin,
Lots of shopping, and presents to get in,
It is a joyous and festive season,
With presents, cards and grub to be eaten.
Christmas Eve turns into Christmas day,
The vegetables chopped, the Turkey a display,
Opening presents around the twinkling Christmas tree,
Smelling the aroma from the cookery
Table aspread with crackers,
Knives and forks adorned,
The turkey is sliced and quartered,
And our empty stomachs are made full.
Piling on the potatoes,
Sprinkling the peas,
Munching on the carrots
Eating as much as we please
Sherry for the adults,
Coke for the kids,
Christmas is a time for pleasure, reflection and joy,
So lets pull the crackers and heartily enjoy!

Reportchristmas dinner
outside it was a freezing, icy frosty day
outside it was a cold teeth chattering day
but that was outside.
insie it was warm happy and cheerful
inside was the warm welcoming smell of christmas dinner
with the smells overwhelming me
bright colourful pots of steaming food
placed before me at the table
deep rich brown roast patotos
bright gleaming vegtables
gone in 5 i thought
but i was wrong my dad makes enough for a homeless shelter
thats lunch for a year i thought
that was lunch then but it wasnt over BANG as the crackers went off
christmas pudding was brought to the table and started slowly burning
the flames dazzled me

ReportA blanket of snow covers the frosty ground.
The trees shiver frozen bare to the core.
Inside a turkey arrives,
Crispy, glowing and painted gold.
Scrumptious smells scent the air,
As Mum brings Christmas dinner
A feast to behold.
There's only one special pudding
That you can't resisit
Clotted crean, brandy,
Such a treat not to miss.
The Christmas tree lights
Twinkle and glow
Parcels and presents
Wrapped up in their bows.
The crackers go pop.
We raise glasses with good cheer.
To celebrate Christ's birth
And welcome the New Year.

ReportChristmas dinner
Everyone chattering a Christmas "hello.!"
Grandma pinching my cheek
Snow outside quietly settling
Bells singing ding dong ding dong!
All sitting down, crackers go BANG!
The turkey glowing in the candle light.
