Archeological dig in Chopes car park

As part of a redevelopment plan the car park at the back of Chopes is to be dug up as part of a major archeological dig.
The work should have started on Monday the 1st February and continue for the week.
This looks like an interesting project.

The work is being organised by the North Devon Plus Joint Delivery Team - whoever they are!
The work is prior to the regeneration of Bridge Street, which they hope will reconnect the pannier market to the main town.
There is going to be a public consultation event regarding the redevelopement of the site on February 23rd between 1pm and 9pm at the town hall.
I for one will be attending!

ReportThis sounds interesting. I'd like to know more about the "dig". Is it being done by volunteers or professionals?
I did find some information about the regeneration plan tinyurl.com/yjtnx72
