The Westcountry wings of the Battery Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT) are looking for homes for some rescued battery hens.

We all know that ‘dogs aren’t just for Christmas’ and the same applies to the BHWT's lovely ladies.  However, BHWT have some chickens looking for homes in Devon and Cornwall and if you can extend the yuletide spirit to a few feathered friends, please get in touch with either Michelle in Cornwall on 07896 045015 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) or Jill in Devon (based in Chulmleigh) on 01837 811003 (Mon-Fri 4-6pm).

The girls are currently in their cages hoping there’ll be a Christmas stocking waiting for them somewhere.  BHWT have helped over 4,250 in November and will have 2,000+ lucky birds coming out over the next few weeks.

If you have the heart and the room to give these poor birds a new lease of life get in touch now.

We got some ex-battery hens a couple of years ago.  They are fabulous pets with benefits.  Nothing like fresh eggs in the morning.

It is wonderful to see them scratching around in the fresh air when you think what a dreadful start to life they have had.
