We have two good pet shops in Bideford; I love to visit Purrfect Pets in Alhalland Street. They have the most wonderful gallery on the wall of photos brought in by proud pet owners. One reviewer says of this pet shop "Usually have some birds and little furries. Really nice staff, always willing to have a chat."
Creature Comforts opposite the Hospice charity shop at the top of Chingswell Street is a larger shop and has an excellent selection of products for all sorts of pets. The shop assistants are really helpful and one review on this site says "100% first class service from a company that cares about its customers..........Thank you !!!"
When it comes to keeping your animal companion healthy then wherever you live there will be a vet's not too far away.
Witten Lodge Vets in Northam has a new surgery opening in Bideford East-the-Water next Monday, 24 January 2011.
Gareth Cross, Director of Witten Lodge told Bidefordpeople; "The idea of the surgery was to provide East-the-Water residents with
accessible veterinary care. We already
have many clients in East the Water and the area is expanding greatly
and becoming a small town in its own right."
"The branch manager is Teresa
Gough, an East the Water girl who is very excited to be heading up the
new branch on her doorstep."
Another Bideford veterinary surgery with five star reviews on this site is Torbridge at Caddsdown. One satisfied customer writes "Wow Wow this is where to take your pets for treatment, friendly and
knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices and a service that is fantastic.
My new puppy needed emergency treatment that resulted in an overnight
stay and the staff where fantastic. They called with regular updates and
after he recovered they all rember his name. They sell pet accessories,
food and even offer training classes, this is a vets that i would
recommend to all my friends Thank you"
The Bidefordpeople directory also lists kennels and catteries like Devondale in Westward Ho! "Lovely people who really look after our pet" as well as animal breeders, pet-sitters and dog-walking services.
Remember too, that this site is a place to come and chat with other locals. Why not get some discussions going about puppy training, share your experiences with buying and caring for your pet ... it's not all moaning about dog poo you know!
