Who uses a public telephone?

This is a question I had to ask myself yesterday as most people carry mobiles. If you want to use a telephone box around here now-a-days you need to carry a prepayment card - although I think there is still a box in Bickington which takes good old fashioned sterling.
If you want to make a call from the phone box in Yelland, by Lagoon View, you will be doubly disappointed. No amount of credit on a telephone card or pocket full of 20p's is going to help you here!
The handset of the telephone has been missing now for at least a year!
No sign of any "out of order" signs, although I think this is quite obvious.
To be honest though, I don't think I would remember how to use a public telephone anyway (although I do know that a handset is a vital piece of the equipment)
I am a bit frightened to report the fault as BT will probably charge me for the call and they would probably remove the box, which is an old fashioned red box and a bit of a landmark.
Never mind some people have found another use for the box -

Ha ha!! so funny, "hello, hello, there's no handset in this box!!" "hello, hello, can you hear me!!"

ReportIf you find a public telephone with a missing handset or other vandalisms, contact the BT faultline, it is a free number found at the telephone box. Tell them about phone box fault or vandalism and they will do something about it!
