I heard today from a local BIdeford person that Chopes is to close. Surely this can't be true. Chopes is a Bideford legent and I for one would be really unhappy to see it close.

I would be very surprised to see any representation from Weatherspoons in Bideford - there seems to be a very strong local opposition which may be due to personal interest?

ReportIt's not going to be Wetherspoons in the Chope's building.Have a read of the October issue of the Bideford Post there is a whole page on Chopes- it says it will be clothing retailer selling mens,womens and childrens.
The rumour is Wetherspoons are going down Bridgeland street in the old car show room.

Slightly off subject but perhaps relevent, there's a rumour that Wetherspoons might be looking to open an establishment in town, if that is true, I'd say that Chopes with it's High Street location and reasonable size might be of interest to them.
