Toy Story 2 - National Schools Film Week
National Schools Film Week (NSFW) provides teachers and their students
the opportunity to see a wide range of films at local cinemas entirely
free-of-charge.
The Festival's goal is to support classroom teaching by providing
schools with a powerful experience for their students that links
directly to elements of the curriculum, supported by an on-line library
of resources related to individual films and more generic topics,
essentially an extension of the classroom.
Over 400,000 students and their teachers attended the Festival in 2009
and this year the Festival, which operates on a scale and with a degree
of sophistication unknown in any other country (2,800 screenings at 570
cinemas across the UK) celebrates its 15th birthday.
The nearest cinema to Bideford taking part in the project is Scott Cinemas in Barnstaple. For Primary Schools they will be showing
Toy Story 2 in 3D, Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and Alvin and the
Chipmunks the Squeaquel. For Secondary Schools they will show An
Education and The Lives of Others.
