Dorothy McCormack Filmclub Young Ambassador
Dorothy McCormack from Instow School in North Devon has been selected to be a Young
Ambassador for the national organisation Filmclub.
As a
Filmclub Young Ambassador, ten year old Dorothy will be invited to interview
film makers and movie stars at events around the country.
Dorothy was
chosen from hundreds of Filmclub members who had their eye on the red carpet
role.
To pass the
first stage of the audition process Dorothy wowed the selection panel with
her video interview of Emma Giffard, project manager of the North Devon Movie
Bus. The judges were sufficiently
impressed to invite Dorothy to the London auditions.
At the
Actors Centre in London’s theatre district, together with scores of other hopefuls, Dorothy
showed what she was made of in a series of testing improvisation sessions.
“It was
just like X Factor” says Dorothy “there were TV cameras and a panel of judges. I was nervous at the start but by the end I
was just having fun!”
After a
long train ride home to North Devon and a couple of antagonising weeks waiting
Dorothy finally heard the good news, she says
“I’m so pleased to have been chosen out of all the people and that makes
me feel proud that I worked hard to get this.”
Next step
will be a media training day for all the newly selected Ambassadors and then
it’s off to the red carpet for her first assignment!
