Happy New Year Bideford People!

Well 2010 saw the Bideford community demonstrating to reclaim peace on the streets for Steven Cloak in March.  Back in August Bideford saw its first triathlon.  Bideford College opened the doors to its new £54 million eco-school building.  We got a new Tesco in East-the-Water, old shops closed and new ones opened.  So what will 2011 hold in store for Bideford?

Bideford's famous independent department store, Chopes, will close its doors after over 100 years of trading in the town with M&Co fashion store setting up shop in its place.  We might be getting a Wetherspoons

Will the Bideford Folk Festival resume after its year off in 2010?

The Appledore Arts Festival is here to stay and in 2011 the theme is Big Skies.  The Appledore Book Festival too is going from strength to strength and will return in September 2011.

The UK Farm Olympics will return to the Big Sheep in 2011 - bigger, better and even more hilarious, raising funds for the North Devon Hospice.

Whatever lies ahead for Bideford this coming new year remember to share your news, events, business listings and photos with your fellow locals right here on bidefordpeople.co.uk!

So enjoy your New Year's Eve in Bideford (probably the best New Year's Party in the UK!) and we wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011 in our little white town.
