Well, I've just had an email from Capt. Roger Hoad, Pilot & Harbour Manager at Torridge District Council saying:
"Coincidentally a Mr Michael Eastman has just come in with the following info.
Name RFA Largs Bay she is an Assualt Ship and is a Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship engaged in manoevres with the Royal Marines. She has just rounded Hartland Point today at 1600hrs and is bound for Plymouth and then Norway."
So, now we know!
