Is anyone else concerned about crossing the road safely to get to Asda/Atlantic Village? I've noticed that the traffic is a lot heavier now, and those of us walking up there are struggling to get across sometimes. The curve in the road makes it difficult to see what's coming, and the traffic is moving fast. I think we need some kind of pedestrian crossing down by Asda before there's an accident.

As part of the planning permission for Asda in Bideford they were required to fund road improvements. This is the information on Torridge District Council website from 2007: "As part of the planning permission Asda will fund extensive road improvements including new traffic lights, footpaths and a cycleway along Clovelly Road. The supermarket giant will also contribute £425,000 over the next five years to fund a bus service to and from Bideford. Asda has also agreed a £100,000 one off payment to establish a Consultative Committee to promote the retail and tourist attractions of Bideford as a whole."

Maybe they should have given more consideration to pedestrians and built a crossing like you suggest.

Maybe we should start a campaign? :-D Surely it wouldn't cost much to put a simple crossing down there?
