When I was a young girl, washing machines were few and far between. Washing machines were a bit like cars, you had to be very rich to afford one.
You are very lucky to have a washing machine. What are you actually doing while the washing is doing itself?
As for the drying, what do you have to do? I expect you are totally spoiled and have a tumble dryer as well?
Ok ironing can be a pain, but I have found that most things, if they are folded down and then put in a big pile will actually iron themselves!
Just keep taking things from the bottom of the pile.

There was never really any reason to put any of the clothing away when I was younger, as we only had one outfit for the week and a special dress for Sundays.
We had to be the first one out to church on a Sunday to get a pair of shoes, which were kept by the front door to be worn on a first come first served basis.

I really don't understand how you can call washing a chore in this day and age.
If you really want to know what a chore it could be - buy yourself a washboard and spend the morning actually working!!
