Morning all. I am heading down to Appledore / Bideford on Saturday for 4 days, with my 2 young boys (18 months / 7 years) Any advice on events going on, child friendly pubs or the best beaches for Winter walks! Thanks

Westward Ho! and Northam Burrows is great for walking but can be windy and chilly. Across the water in Instow is lovely for walking and has dunes for the children to play in - it is on the estuary so more sheltered.

The Big Sheep adventure park is fantastic !! also has an indoor play area if you are not so lucky with the weather !! In Westward Ho! fantastic beach and the Waterfront pub has a superb indoor playhouse, excellent food... Hope you enjoy your stay.

Don't think anyone with children comes to this part of the country without visiting the Big Sheep!

They take Tesco club card vouchers and Blue Peter Badge holders get in free!

The local papers North Devon Journal and Gazette have lists of what's on and they both have online versions.

Beaver Inn in Appledore is right on the estuary and does nice food. Libraries in Bideford and Barnstaple and Barnstaple museum have activities going on, so does the Burton Art Gallery and Museum in Bideford which is good to visit and has a nice cafe.
