Bideford Xmas Lights Switch-on for the benfit of those who have asked me or wish to know is confirmed as SUNDAY 27th November. More details will follow from the official committee in due course.

Is it really going to be on a sunday? When will the commitee confirm this? If this is the date thats great news for me and my kids, i wont need to book time off work.

Yes Rosey04, it is definitely Sunday.
I believe the thinking behind it was that we would be able to make more of the time we have in the build-up to the switch-on rather than have it all crammed into a frenetic couple of hours. Hopefully shops will be open and doing their bit to join in the fun too. With regard to exact time of the switch-on, and whats on during the day, that will be announced by the committee. I don't know any more than that at this time.

the main reason for a Sunday switch on is to avoid disruption of Saturday trading; road closures and all that, the pannier market will be open on Sunday as well

thats great news thankyou. The kids love it and im happy i dont need to try and get the time off work, fingers crossed its a little less wet this year.
