The Old Town Cemetery job is bigger than it looks! Before you criticise, take the trouble to enquire from the people who are doing the job. The cemetery has been neglected for half a century and a lot of remedial work is involved in clearance, lowering the wall and restoration. If it was just a case of re-pointing and capping by a commercial operator working for profit, your comment may have some justification. This is not a commercial enterprise.
It is, I hope also more connected with heaven than hell! :-)
What a load of rubbish! If the contractors spent as much time on the cemetery as they did/do on the house the job would be over long ago! They have spent hardly any-time on or in the cemetery working and spend more time away then there! They have disturbed the people who live/work in the area by blocking the road and working on occasion on Sunday. Yes the cemetery will be much better after a make over but to bill twice for the capping stones that were never installed correctly to start with is a joke! Its good to see that the 1 bedroom house (although it has got a little fatter and has three bedrooms) has been put back on and lets not forget the extra parking spaces that have been created for the residents of old town, hang on there havent been any extra parking spaces created. All in all a big waste of time effort and money for something that shouldn't have taken very long. Seeing the men "hard at work" leaning on the shovels whilst one poor lad worked in the rain to strip the cement of the wall was laughable! TRUE COUNCIL WORK STYLE IN MOTION!!!
