The Happy Café gives young people the opportunity to learn new skills in a working kitchen environment.
Youth worker Jane Elliot said, "We are very thankful for the money which has boosted the group and will help us to train even more young people in the area."
The Happy Café was set up as a training café giving young people the opportunity to get work experience and gain qualifications. The young trainees did the work to restore the building and helped raise the funds for the kitchen in 2009. And new non-slip flooring has recently been installed in the kitchen area, essential for a registered food hygiene premises.
Councillor Roger Tisdale said, "As adult and youth training is a top priority for Torridge I am delighted that my money will help young people to acquire new skills and gain valuable work experience. It will set them in good stead for the future."
