Two Seperate Alleged Racist Attacks Mar Bideford's Rememberance Sunday
The first offence took place at about 2pm on Sunday 13th November 2011 when three young men were assaulted by a man in Victoria Park, Bideford.
The offending man was in a group of males and one female and he
is described as aged in his late teens, 6'1" tall, skinny build, blonde
hair, eyebrow piercing, with bad acne and was wearing a tracksuit with
red and blue stripes.
A police spokesman said: "Bideford CID are treating this as a
racially motivated incident and have been reviewing local CCTV to
Identify the offender.
They are appealing for witnesses who must have
been present in the park on Sunday afternoon or any information from
those close to the offender that will assist the investigation into this
unprovoked and pointless incident."
If anyone has any information please call 101 quoting reference
CD/11/1942, alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The second attack occured just after 4pm yesterday afternoon when police in North Devon received
reports that three teenage males had allegedly assaulted and racially
abused a number of people at a property near Higher Clovelly and
subsequently ran off into surrounding farm land.
The
aircraft joined in the search with numerous local officers and a dog
unit from Barnstaple. After an extensive search the dog unit picked up a
track and located one male who gave himself up to officers. A short
time later the crew of the helicopter located the remaining two, along
with the dog unit, approximately half a mile away on the edge of a
field. Using the NiteSun (spotlight) local officers were guided into the
location and the final two taken into custody.
The three males are currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

Comments
Two boys aged 14 and 15-years-old have now been charged with two counts of assault by beating. The 15-year-old has also been charged with racial abuse following the helicopter search and involvement of the dog unit at Higher Clovelly on November the 13th.
