Call for Mentors
By BIP | Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 11:21
Okehampton based BIP (Business Information Point) have supported thousands of people to start their own business, add a new business enterprise or find ways to grow and develop their business since it opened it doors back in 1993; all of these actions have contributed positively in growing the rural economy.
In June 2011 a new business support programme was launched by the BIP, which helps unemployed people of all ages start businesses across Devon & Cornwall. This programme is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and is called the New Enterprise allowance.
The BIP needs volunteer mentors to act as 'a shoulder to lean on' to support these new business owners, to be their mentors as they develop their business plans and during their first six months of trading. There will be a travel allowance available and help and assistance from a business advisor who can advise you along the way.
The long term effect of growing the areas economy will be good for all businesses as the economy recovers from the recession. If you could offer a bit of time to assist these people I am sure you will find it interesting and rewarding. If you are interested please call BIP on Free Phone 0330 1000338 and we can discuss it further or take a look at our website for more information on the programme and us.
Yours truly
Stewart Horne, Managing Director - BIP
