Hartland Primary School Library Opened by Author Nick Arnold

Yesterday was a great day for the children of Hartland Primary School. Not only did they enjoy their summer fayre but their new school library, which the children had worked hard to raise funds for, was opened by no less than children's author, Nick Arnold, the writer of Horrible Science  books.

Nick gave the children a lovely talk on useful things like libraries, teachers and cats - and how one should never confuse a teacher with a cat - before cutting the ribbon and declaring the library open. Nick is a strong supporter of libraries and Chair of the Appledore Book Festival Committee which runs a highly successful annual book fair in the village. He spent time after the opening signing autographs and chatting to the children. The author also kindly donated some signed bookplates and a poster signed by author Jacqueline Wilson for the library, a great start to the new facility at the village school.
