Spreading the word: New cardboard recycling service starts in April
The new service goes district-wide to all of Torridge households from April. Households will receive their brown bags this week – which can be used especially for cardboard – and can be put out on the same day as the dry recycling – bottles, cans and papers – for collection.Lead member for Waste and Recycling Councillor Chris Leather said, 'The roadshows were an excellent opportunity for people to talk to us and find out more about our new cardboard recycling service. The feedback was very good, I think local residents will really go for it!'
Leader of the council Barry Parsons added, 'It is evident there is massive enthusiasm to recycle in Torridge, residents are aware of the importance of environmental sustainability and are passionate to recycle more materials. Torridge District Council and South Molton Recycle are working together with the aim of providing an enhanced service, reducing landfill to the absolute minimum.'
The new cardboard recycling service will begin in April. For more information call South Molton Recycle on 01769 573081.
