Car park Casanova leaves mystery trail

SEVERAL women have contacted the Journal this week following a story about a woman who was approached by a mystery man in Morrisons in Bideford.

The stranger approached Chulmleigh woman Karen Medakka at the supermarket in January and gave her his number.

Karen contacted the Journal to try and find the man, after losing his phone number. Last week the paper published Karen's story in a bid to find him.

It appears Karen is not the only woman to have been on the receiving end of the potential Romeo's advances.

One woman left an answer phone message anonymously.

She said: "I'm pretty confident the same man asked me out. He fits the description and he's asked three of my friends out too.

"He spoke to me in the supermarket but one of my friends had exactly the same experience as Karen, he leant out of his Mini Cooper to speak to her."

A Bideford man called to say his friend's wife had also been propositioned and a regular letter writer said his step daughter had been asked if she was single.

The Journal was even contacted by a woman who claimed to be the lovelorn lothario's ex-partner.

She said she had an 18-year-old daughter with the man, who she met in a supermarket 19 years ago.

She said: "I know he's met several other girlfriends in the same way. Morrisons seems to be his hunting ground.

"I can give Karen his number if she wants it, but my advice would be to steer clear."

The paper knows of at least eight women who have been approached by the lothario, who seems to have taken a scattergun approach to love.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: "We've no idea who the mystery man is but we'll keep a lookout for him, especially around our fresh flower bouquets and Valentine's Day card display."
