Bideford-born celebrity chat show host publishes early memoirs
-
Chat show host Ken Windsor grew up in Bideford
A former chat show host from Bideford has published the first part of memoirs in a unique multimedia format.
Ken Windsor presented over 120 celebrity chat shows for his radio chat show in the 1970s. He interviewed some the great names of film and television, including Morecambe and Wise, Jon Pertwee, Dame Diana Rigg and Sir Norman Wisdom
Ken has now released the first part of autobiography 'Reflections of my life – Part One', detailing his early years growing up in Bideford.
What makes Ken's book unusual is that the text is interwoven with audio clips of songs and interviews from Frankie Vaughan, Sir Anthony Quayle, Dame Cleo Laine, James Beck and Tony Bennett which lead the reader through the first 15 years of his life in Bideford.
Ken recalls halcyon days of fishing from Bideford Bridge, and even managed to 'hook' Appledore Lifeboat. But life wasn't all plain-sailing as Ken was also quite a sickly child. All told, Ken's story offers a nostalgic glimpse of a bygone age.
As Ken says in the book's forward, "Get yourself comfy, maybe grab a big mug of tea and just enjoy the Journey."
In order to listen to the audio clips, readers will need a Kindle with internet access. Those with a basic Kindle will still be able to enjoy Ken's story, told in a warm and witty style.
Reflections of my life - Part One is out now on Kindle, priced at 77p. Part two will be published in November 2012.
