Bideford College Reports Best Ever GCSE Results

Bideford College (www.bideford.devon.sch.uk) reports its best-ever GCSE results today with the school's Principal, Veronica Matthews, attributing much of the increased success of the school to the superb new school building and facilities which have given local pupils and the teaching staff a school to feel proud to be part of.

Ms Matthews reported that 13% more students achieved five A* to C grades (including in Maths and English) and that 15% more (62% in total) gained five good GCSE grades compared with last year.

  "As with our A level results last week, these are our best results ever," she confirmed. 

 The Principal said also she believed the record results in both A levels and GCSEs were a direct result of what she called the 'continuing improvements' to the school including the delivery of superb new facilities and the impact of that on both the teachers and the students. 

 "We have exceeded the targets agreed with the local authority which take account of the ability of students within the year group and so there is a lot to celebrate," she added. "I am really proud of our students and the effort they have put in this year; as well as recognising the skill and dedication of our staff."
