Firefighter Nick Williams from Appledore fire station near Bideford is hoping not to be pipped at the post again by Pingu the Penguin when he takes part in the London marathon on April 21.
Nick Williams will be taking part in the London marathon to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Nick said, "Two years ago I ran my first marathon for the Fire Fighters Charity, the experience was amazing and painful in equal measures, although the pain probably more so.
"At about 18 miles severe cramp set in and I could do nothing but get round any way I could, my four hour target turned into five hours and 42mins. If that wasn't bad enough Pingu the penguin overtook me on the finish line."
Despite this, Nick still exceeded his fundraising total and collected just under £2,000. This year he is raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity which offers support to all Fire Service personnel and their families during times of need, by providing services such as therapy and recuperation facilities.
Nick added, "Please donate whatever you can. Together we can help injured firefighters and their families, and I can hopefully beat Pingu!"
